"My Favorite Teddy Bear Is You"
CD Is Out!

My new Kids CD, "My Favorite Teddy Bear Is You," was recently released.  It isn't up on iTunes or CD Baby, but I hope to get it up soon.  (Takes a little time for those folks to process the disc and set it up.)  For now you can purchase a CD direct from me ($10, plus $2.00 for shipping/handling), or from Walker Bay Coffee (Walker, MN), the official outlet for all of my CDs.  Deb makes a tasty cup of coffee.  Go in and ask for either Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, or a Presbyterian.  The latter will bring a smile to her face an likely a comment, "You know Paul Nye, don't you."

Anyway, as I mentioned in a previous post, the disc is targeted at preschoolers, along with some tunes that K-4 kids will enjoy.  Plus, as a special bonus, we're even including a song for parents, but written from a baby's point of view.  The song is called "I Burped All Over Pastor."

I just finished a whirlwind one week "tour" to promote the CD.  Did five shows in five days to nearly 1,000 kids.  What a gas!! Met some wonderful people and some awesome kids!

The cover of the CD features Levi and Chole, the children of my friends Jarrod & Sarah Norvold.   Sarah specializes in infant photography.  Check out www.littleinspirationsphotography.com   The red toy box with "Paul" on it was painted by my almost 90-year-old mom when I was 3.  Mom tells me that oranges used to be shipped to grocery stores in those wooden boxes.  It's a treasure - plus it's a great home for all my stuffed toys. I should say that mom is also selling my CDs in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.  She has kind of an old peoples home boiler room operation where she runs a number of for-profit, and not-for-profit enterprises.   If you live in the cities, you could find her and save some money on shipping.  She's easy to find.  Just get on any metro bus or in any taxi and tell them to take you to Paul's mom, Dorothy.  They'll know what to do.

There are some "gems" on this CD that I'm pretty proud of, but you'll have to get a copy to hear them.  I would like to note, however, that two of the girls who sang on my "Flagpole" CD in 2008 have returned for this project, along with two more girls.  Berit Dybing and Emily Widman, now in 8th grade, sang on the "Flagpole" CD when they were in 5th grade.  They were joined in my vocal recording session by Becca Lloyd (3rd grade), and Shannon McGrath (4th grade).  The vibe they laid down was pretty cool.  Hats off to Em and Ber for working a marathon session - 11 hours long!!  I know adults who couldn't pull that off.  At 6:00 p.m. they both asked for some coffee - real stuff, not "Barbie Coffee" from a convenience store.  One of my favorites is "The Wiggle Dance." The girls sang like little "Divas."  BTW:  You can listen to the full-length version of "The Wiggle Dance" on my Reviews page.  It'll start playing automatically upon clicking on the page.

T he CD features several songs that I co-wrote with some young kids - one is my 5-year-old nephew Cal.  We wrote "What Kind Of Sound?" over Thanksgiving last year.  Funny song.  The other is a song called "The Dog" that I wrote with one of my 4th grade guitar students, Isaiah Haas.  My co-producer and best buddy, Kameron Artley, age 15, also penned "Forgive & Forget" with me.  Additionally, Berit played cello on "The Dog," and Emily rapped on "Rules Make The World Go 'Round," as well as sang on the blues/gospel tune "Tick Tock Goes the Clock."

As my friend Zach would do, smile always......it makes people wonder what you've been up to.
