The music is what matters most!!

Paul has released 5 recordings

"Don't Lick A Flagpole When It's Cold," was released late 2009.      flagpolecvr4website.jpgThe CD contains 13 songs - all original, with exception of "Velcro," which is a great, funny song written by Paul's longtime friend and musician, Jack Pearson (see www.jackpearson.org).  You can preview some of the songs on this website.     Also check out: (www.myspace.com/paulnye).   P1010012.jpgSince Paul works with elementary school students, most of the music was written from being immersed in that "laboratory."  As Art Linkletter once said, "Kids say the darndest things."  How true.  Paul has creatively capitalized on that and this CD that is full of fun and funny things kids say, as well as some great vocalization by the kids themselves, including Paul's Kinship buddy, Kam (photo right).  Paul has found a magical balance between writing strong curriculum-based music (which can sometimes be very, well..."Barney-like"), and a creatively goofy yet honest way to communicate values like respect, making good choices and friendship to a young audience.

Paul's new song, "Kind Hero,"  is now available as mp3 download

Paul's song, "Kind Hero," that he wrote for Meritcare Health System's "Kindness Week" in February 2009 is available.  This year's theme was Kind Hero.  The song is a departure from Paul's music style and has a kind of Bon Jovi/Journey/Eagles feel to it, but we like the rock-n-roll groove and great hooks & hope you'll like it too.
You must have a Pay Pal account to purchase the download.  Enjoy the song.

"Beaten Path," on Verse & Bridge Records in the fall of 2004.  During the three years it took to record the project, Paul lost two very important people in his life; his father, and father-in-law both passed away about four months apart.  There were a number of other trials that Paul encountered during those three years.  But, Paul weathered it all and came out stronger in the end.

Beaten Path has  13 cuts.  The CD is graphically designed around one of Paul's favorite pastimes....bicycling!  Unfortunately, the title cut, "Beaten Path," wasn't finished in time to include it on the disc.  However, Paul came up with a fresh and rather unique (in a "Paul" way) recording concept of putting the title cut on the succeeding CD, and naming that CD with the title of the CD that would follow.  "That way," Paul surmises, "people would always know the name of at least one song that would be on the next CD."  (Only from the mind of Paul.)  Although, we admit he just may be on to a great marketing concept, which will unlikely be embraced by any other record label than our own.

We'll talk more about Beaten Path on another page in the future.  However, it is available on iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon.com, fuzz.com, and other sites around the web.  You can also simply contact Paul for a copy.

"Sunflower Child," was a single CD release on Verse & Bridge Records Sunflower Child CDthat contained a band version, acoustic version and instrumental track of the song.  The song was written in memory of JohnPloof, a 9-year-old friend of Paul's who tragically lost his life.  Since Paul works with elementary students, he was around a lot grieving young kids.  The song helped Paul, as well as many young students process that grief.  John loved sunflowers, hence the title.  However, the song is not a sad song.  It's a pretty happy song filled with hope.  Paul donated $2.00 from the sale of each CD towards a scholarship fund established in John's name that will be awarded to one of his third grade classmates when they graduate from high school and successfully complete one semester of higher education.  As far as we know, the fund is up to $6,000.  More information on the song or the scholarship fund is available.  Contact us.

"The Line Is Being Drawn," was released by Quicksilver Records, Reseda, CA and is currently out of print.  This was Paul's first recording (on vinyl. Ouch!  Remember LineisBeingDrawnCover.jpgthose days).     We're looking into re-releasing that in CD form sometime in 2009.  It was a very thought-provoking project that showed Paul's introspective side in a humorous, understandable way.   It features Paul doing acoustic blues, rock, reggae, and some pop tunes.  All original.  This album received some limited, but favorable airplay nationwide eliciting comparisons to the late Jim Croce.   Paul still performs a number of the songs on that LP in his shows.  Among the favorites are "It Don't Take Much To Love A Smile Like That," which, aside from being in the running for the longest name of a song, is a goofy song Paul wrote about the experiences of being a young father of a little boy.

"Average Guy"  Paul also released an EP.  That, too, is out of print.  Most of the four songs on that EP were re-recorded and appear on Paul's current full-length CD, "Beaten Path."  There are a couple of tunes that we may release in the future as a "Bootleg."  This was released in a cassette form.  Remember those little things?  Well, oddly enough, they're making a comeback, if you believe what Newsweek magazine prints.  The marketing around this EP was clever.  We hope to get some of the graphics up soon.

Future Projects

Paul is working on several other projects that we hope to release in the near future.  One is an album of all acoustic music, primarily guitar instrumentals......

"Acoustic."  Paul is also working on an acoustic project of original songs.  That CD is a ways out.  Additionally, he has recorded a few guitar instrumental tunes.  The cool thing about this recording is that Paul played (or will play) all of the songs on his grandpa's 108-year-old Stetson Parlor Guitar.  Sweet!
